Also both sets of character are forbidden to talk to each other but they still try to find a way to do so. She does not want to use the bedpan next to her bed, she rather use the lavatory when she finally makes it there she falls and dies. “Bess” From The Highwayman dies when she is tied down with a musket pointing at her and is basically forced to kill herself. A difference in the stories is that only one of the males die in the stories. The male that dies is from the story The highwayman he becomes shot.
